HOUSTON, Jackie Ballard

Jackie Ballard Houston, 64, of Pearisburg, departed this life Wednesday morning, April 29, 2015 in the care of hospice after his battle with laryngeal cancer at the home of his friends, Elinda and Donald Elliott. He was born in Mullens, WV on February 19, 1951 a son of the late Thomas James Franklin Houston and Ethel Hamby Houston. He had earned his living as a coal miner.

He is survived by his children Nathan Houston of Norton, Jason Houston of Wise, Jacqueline Blanton of Coeburn, and Veronica Harvey of Coeburn; his brothers Jimmie Dale Houston and Cletus Houston; his sisters Linda Hutton, Frankie Clay, Alice, Connie McKinney, Shirley and Charlotte; his six grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 3:00 pm at the Houston Homeplace in Damascus, Virginia. Funeral arrangements are with the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., in Pembroke, VA. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
