BUCKLAND, Rosa Hobbs
Rosa Hobbs Buckland, 68 of Narrows, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 22nd, 2015. A lifelong resident of Giles County, she was born on March 12th, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Gilbert W. and Martha Davis Hobbs. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Azel Arthur Buckland; and a brother, William Bruce Hobbs. Rosa was a lifelong member of Wayside Baptist Mission. She devoted her life to her family and church with true love and compassion for others. Her faith and love inspired everyone she met. She is survived by her daughter, Joanie Lilly and spouse Dewey of Roanoke; a son, Steven Buckland and wife Susan of Glen Lyn; her precious granddaughter, Stephanie Buckland; her step-granddaughter, Catherine Lilly; a brother, John Hobbs of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Shirley Knutson and spouse Robert of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. The family would like to extend their thanks to the many individuals and healthcare providers that helped care for her over the last several years, including the transplant team at UVA Medical Center, the unknown donor which gave her a second chance at life, the Carilion cardiothoracic team, Friendship Health and Rehab Center, their home care companions, Medi-Home Health, and the 7-South and Pallative Care units at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 26th, 2015 at 11 AM at the Wayside Baptist Mission with Pastor Merrill Hedrick officiating. Burial will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
