BRACKEN, Robert Glen

Post ImageRobert Glen Bracken, 87, of Pembroke departed this life Wednesday morning, November 4, 2015 in the care of Heritage Hall at Rich Creek. Born in Sissonsville, WV on February 4, 1928 he was a son of the late Rev. Robert Thompson and Augusta Hemmings Bracken. He was a graduate of Peterstown High School, 1947 and retired as loading foreman at National Gypsum Co. at Goldbond Plant. “Bob” was a long-time member of Pembroke First United Methodist Church and Castle Rock Lodge AF&AM in Pembroke. He raised and trained champion beagles including the national champion “Little BlueThunder” and enjoyed the outdoors of Giles County so much. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ellen Martin Bracken, his dear son Samuel Martin Bracken, and his siblings, Charles Bracken, Viola Shomo, Betty Dunn, Naomi Bracken, Ann Maxwell, Eloise Kite, Faye Hutsenpillar, and Marietta Francis. He leaves to cherish his memory his nieces and nephews, his church family at Pembroke Methodist, his lodge brothers, the people he worked with, his family at Heritage Hall, and a host of people who called him “Friend”. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St in Pembroke with burial following in the Martin-Meredith Cemetery on Doe Creek at Pembroke. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours before the services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pembroke First United Methodist Church.
