Russell Lee Caldwell, 63, of Virginia Avenue, Pembroke, departed this life Saturday, June 13, 2015, at his home in the loving care of his family after a short bout with cancer. Born on December 14, 1951, in Covington, VA, he was a son of John Lee Caldwell of New Castle and the late Sylvia Caldwell. He had been employed at Virginia Lime Co at KImballton and was retired from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Russell was a 1969 graduate of Giles High School in Pearisburg, and was a veteran of the U S Army, Viet Nam Era. He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother, Michael Caldwell. He leaves to cherish his memory his father, his devoted and loving wife Sandra “Sandy” Williams Caldwell; his daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Clinton Long of Pearisburg; his brother Jody Caldwell of Elliston; his sisters Sylvia Mae Caldwell of Newport News, Jennetta Preston (Bill) of Christiansburg, and Kathy Crowley (Doug) of Beaufort, SC; his grandchildren Zoey and Charlee Long. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St, in Pembroke.
