CLAYTOR, Charles Eugene “Red”

Post ImageRICH CREEK, VA – Charles Eugene “Red” Claytor age 89 of Rich Creek, VA passed away Friday, July 20, 2012 at Country View Assisted Living, Peterstown, WV following an extended illness. Born August 2, 1922 at Princeton, WV he was the son of the late Robert Elijah and Effie Eilene Holder Claytor. Red was retired from the Celanese Corp. after 42 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rich Creek, VA, member of the Rich Creek Lions Club and the Giles County Rescue Squad and a lifelong member of the Rich Creek Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Delores Claytor, four brothers and five sisters. Survivors include one son, Bobby Claytor and wife Delia of Pearisburg, VA, two daughters, Becky Moore and husband Joe of Rich Creek, VA and Debbie Claytor of Pearisburg, VA, one sister, Eilene Moore of Florence, SC, six grandchildren, Lori Riddle and husband Sid of Ballard, WV, Chris Clark and wife Giselle of Dublin, VA, Lee Shumate of Christiansburg, VA, Gina Claytor of Ripplemead, Robbie Claytor and wife Jennifer of Pearisburg, VA and David Claytor of Pearisburg, VA, ten great grandchildren, two special friends, Jackie Clemons and Tommy Hudson, several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek, VA with Pastor Tim Sanderson officiating. Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 23, 2012 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, Peterstown, WV. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM, Tuesday. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Country View Assisted Living for their excellent care of Red during his stay there.
