LUCAS, Patsy Jean

Patsy Jean Lucas (Pat), age 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 25, 2015 with her children by her side. Patsy was born March 21st 1939, in Giles County to the late John Allen Tiller and Clara Blankenship Tiller. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lacy Lucas Sr. (Bud), and sisters Margaret Johnston and Joann Wilson. She is survived by the “loves of her life”, William Allan Lucas and wife Debbie, Brian Keith Lucas and wife Karen, Sharon Lynette Bell, Karen Lucas Hale, William Lacy Lucas Jr. and Ruben Barba. Grandchildren: Josh Lucas, Beth Eppling and husband Adam Eppling, Andy Mullins, Jessica Lucas, Audrey Litton, Alston, Logan and Claire Lucas; great-grandchildren, Nolan and Miles Eppling, Cameron and Skyler Mullins, and Landen Proffitt. She leaves to cherish a loving sister Bonnie Smith, who stayed by her side the last few months of her life, reminiscing a lifetime of memories.  She also leaves behind several nieces and a nephew. She was cherished by many as she was a remarkable woman that touched the souls of everyone she encountered. She retired from the NRV Regional Jail after two years. Before that, she spent 10 years with the Giles County Sheriff’s Department. She cherished serving as a pioneer in her congregation and developed many fond memories as well as close friendships as a result. Patsy was baptized July 5 th, 2008 and was a faithful and loyal servant of her God Jehovah. Patsy was happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, in which they called her “Honey”. Our dear Mother wanted us to send a special thank you to all her devoted neighbors. She also wanted us to send a special thank you to Dr. Walker, Dr. McMahan, Dr. Hayes, Dr. McCoy, Dr. Hess and their staff, not to forget Carilion Hospice. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions please consider either the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in the memory of their mother. At her request, she was cremated.  A memorial gathering will be held Friday, October 30th, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows, with a graveside service on Saturday at 2 PM at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.
