OAKES, Brenda Gail Jones Atkins

Brenda Gail Jones Atkins-Oakes, 68 of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, October 21st, 2015.

She was born in Giles County on October 1st, 1947, and was the daughter of the late Benford Columbus and Iola Thornton Jones. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Brenda loved trips to the beach, shopping, and spending time with her loving family. She was also an animal lover.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, David Wesley Oakes of Christiansburg; two daughters, Melissa Payne and husband Chet of Fort Chiswell, Tammy Atkins of Radford; two sons, Brian Atkins and wife Melissa of Christiansburg, Frankie Atkins, II and wife Angela of Christiansburg; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at 2 PM at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek with Pastor Merrill Hedrick officiating. At her request there will be no public viewing or visitation.
