WHEELER, Virgil Garland

Post ImageVirgil Garland Wheeler,71, of Crystal Lane, Narrows, departed this life at his home in the loving care of his family and hospice Monday evening, November 9, 2015. Born on the Wheeler Homeplace on Wolf Creek on October 20, 1944 he was a son of the late Egbert Terrell and Ethel Lee Wilburn Wheeler. He was a timberman, a farmer at heart, a hunter and fisherman by choice and a neighbor always ready to help his fellow man. Virgil was a Christian expressing his faith in Christ by confession and baptism at Riverview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Georgie Turner and Ethel Conley, and his brothers Randall Terrell Wheeler and Harry Allen Wheeler. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-eight years Connie McCroskey Wheeler; his son Charles Alan Wheeler of Narrows; his daughter and son-in-law Christine Diane and Earl Cumbee of Pearisburg; his beloved grandchildren Cailee Elizabeth Cumbee, Chadwick Dalton, and Chance Hunter Wheeler; his sisters Shirley Parcell of Narrows and Caarol Layman of Narrows; his brothers William E. Wheeler, Curtis Wheeler, Perry Wheeler, Harold Wheeler, Robert Wheeler, and Danny Buckland all of Narrows and Roger Wheeler of Pearisburg and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 am in Riverview Baptist Church, Ripplemead with Pastor Shahn Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Wheeler Family Cemetery near his home. There will be no public viewing or visitation. Condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
