BOWLES, Hazel Mae

Post ImageHazel Mae Bowles, 80, of Dennis Street in Pearisburg, and formerly of Elliston, with God’s Grace, departed this life for her heavenly home, Monday morning, April 27, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on May 5, 1934, in Pearisburg, a daughter of the late Mattie Hypes Mosburg and Eugene Mosburg of Pearisburg.  Hazel was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker all of her life and enjoyed taking care of her home and family.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Minor H. Bowles.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, a son Gary Lee Bowles of Pearisburg and his special friend Rhonda Sanders and her devoted daughter Brenda Gail Bowles and her fiancé James McDonald of Rich Creek, her three sisters Edna Martin of Dublin, Eleanor Newby of Pearisburg and Joyce Longrie and husband Frank of Pearisburg; a special sister-in-law Evelyn Echols of Shawsville; her two special grandchildren Cheryl Spangler McClellan  (Jeff) of Charleston, WV and Angie Spangler Eads (Chris) of Pearisburg, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews including Angie and Dean Davis and children of Pearisburg, Rusty and Bridget Newby  and family of Narrows, Randy and Hilary Newby and family of Wytheville.

A gathering of family and friends to offer Thanksgiving and Praise to God for Hazel’s long life and good deeds will take place Friday, May 1, 2015 at 11:00 am in The Church of God on Henson Ave. in Pearisburg with Pastor Doug Duncan, Pastor Shahn Wilburn and Pastor Terry Mays officiating.  Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating.  There will not be a time of public viewing at Hazel’s request.  The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Medi Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Russell Melton for the special care given their mother during her illness.  The Kendall Funeral Home in Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.  Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
