CARDWELL, Jr., James Franklin
James Franklin Cardwell, Jr., 60, formerly of Narrows, was reunited with his parents, the late Jim and Phyllis Cardwell, on May 17, 2015. Jimmy was a 1972 graduate of Narrows High School. He has been a resident of Arizona for the past 31 years. He was a devout member of his church that he served and loved. He was a member of the Phoenix American Legion. Jimmy taught children and adults in the Mesa and Phoenix areas the use of sign language and to speak bilingually. His many years of extreme physical disabilities did not stop his desire and efforts to help in his community. He appreciated the western culture and the beauty that nature offers there, but wanted to come home to Virginia where he said “this is as close to heaven as it gets”. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother and sister-in-law Larry and Pam Cardwell of Narrows; his sister and brother-in-law Cathy and Mark Perdue of Newport; eight nieces and nephews; fourteen great-nieces and nephews; and a family of friends in Arizona. There was a celebration of his life among his friends and neighbors in Arizona. On Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11:00 am in the First Baptist Church of Narrows his family welcomes all of their friends join them in commemorating Jimmy’s life with a service of Christian Worship. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 am until 11 am before the services, and wishes to thank all the friends for their prayers, calls, cards, and kind words.
