DUNCAN, Mary Kathryn

Mary Kathryn Duncan, 87, of Northside Road, Newport, departed this life Thursday evening, December 31, 2015 at her home in the loving care of her family and hospice. Born in Pembroke on October 10, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Cora Allean Niece Carter, and the last one of their ten children. Kathryn was retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows, was a 1947 graduate of Pembroke High School, and expressed her Christian Faith in her attendance at the Cambria Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Byron McKinley Duncan, her parents, and nine siblings. She leaves to cherish precious memories her daughters Teresa Duncan of Newport and Monica D. Myers and her husband Joe also of Newport; her granddaughter and her husband Kathryn and Craig Brillhart; and her great –granddaughters Haley Keffer, Raven Keffer, and Lexie Brillhart. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, January 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, with Pastors Jerry Shepherd and Jube Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 until 8 pm.
