HILTON, Virginia Reed

Virginia Reed Hilton, 93, of Big Stony Creek Road, Ripplemead, departed this life Friday evening, November 6, 2015 at her home in the loving care of her family. Born at Kerns not far from her home on August 28, 1922 she was a daughter of the late Ira Garman, and Cannie Sue Mitchem Reed. She was a life-long member of Olean Church of The Brethren and lived out her Christian faith not only at church but everywhere she went. She was a graduate of Pembroke High School enjoyed her time as a member of the basketball team and was a devoted Spartan and Hokie fan. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Willard Harvey Hilton, Sr., her son Willard H. Hilton, Jr., her grandson Ronnie Wade Six, Jr., her brothers Paul Reed, Sr., Elsworth Reed, Luther Hoover Reed, Sr., and her sisters Reffa Morgan, Irene Moser, and Kathleen Reed. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Jeffery Hilton of Bassett; her daughters and sons-in-law Emma Sue Six of Rural Retreat, Betsy and Charles T. (Whitey) McNew of Big Stony Creek, Julia and Jimmy Carter of Big Stony Creek; her grandchildren Justin Hilton, Jesssica Hilton, Barbie Carter, Dreama Rhodes, Rhonda Corvin, Rusty Carter, and Kim Tamminen; her great-grandchildren Lori Carter, Cody Rhodes, Tana Rhodes, Samuel Corvin, Kelly Corvin, Austin Six, Cody Hilton, Jimmy Wirtz, Savannah Carter, Isaac Carter, Adrianna Phillips, and Tyler Bray; her great-great-grandchildren Tristan and Camden Phillips. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11:00 am in the Olean Church of The Brethren with Pastors Roger Booth and Johnny Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery nearby. The family will receive friends at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, Sunday evening from 5 until 8 pm.
