MULLINS, Vernie Eveline

Vernie Eveline Mullins, 79, of Riverside Avenue, Narrows, departed this life Sunday morning, January 17, 2016 at her home in the care and love of her family and hospice. Born in Pike County, Kentucky on December 28, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Fairbanks and Macy Blankenship Hurley.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Burns Calvin Mullins, six brothers and five sisters.

This beloved mother leaves to cherish her memory her six children and their spouses, Burns and Kris Mullins of Rural Retreat, Gary and Kim Mullins of Narrows, Bernadine Kirby and Joe Carter of Blacksburg, Marion Hetherington of Narrows, Frances and Roger Martin of Narrows, Della and Jeff Johnson of White Gate; her seven grandchildren Mary Hetherington, Holly Hetherington, Christina Mullins, Andrew Mullins, Brooklynne Mullins, Jessica Johnson and Matthew Mullins; her sisters Renie Thomas and Edna Working and her brother Greeley Hurley. “Her devotion and love to her family will always be held in their hearts.”

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 pm in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow Street, Pembroke with Pastor Betsy Switzer of First United Methodist Church in Rich Creek officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunrise Burial Park in Rich Creek.
