ROBERTSON, Waddie Fredrick

Waddie Fredrick Robertson, 57 of Narrows passed away suddenly Thursday, March 3rd, 2005 at his home.

A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born May 21st, 1947 and was the son of the late Fred Emons and Maggie Louise Akers Robertson. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Maynard and Dorothy Spangler; and two sisters, Rita R. Gautier and Rhetta R. Neal.

A 1965 graduate of Narrows High School, Waddie was an active employee of Celanese Acetate for 39 years where he worked in the Preparation Department. A former Green Wave athlete, he was an avid softball player and loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 39+ years, Barbara Spangler Robertson; two daughters, Melissa and Todd Guynn of Pearisburg, and Kim Robertson Fisher of Narrows; and one son, Waddie Robertson, Jr. of Narrows. He was blessed with seven special grandchildren, Josh Fisher, Zach, Andi and Maggie Guynn, Keely, Wyatt and Gracie Robertson. He is also survived by one sister, Ruby and Jackie Evans of Peterstown; two sisters-in-law, Carol Spangler Hale and husband Paul of Narrows, and Mary Ellen Turner and husband Jim of Pembroke; many wonderful nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Spencer Lindsey.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 6th, 2005 at 3 PM at Riverview Baptist Church in Ripplemead with Rev. Shahn Wilburn and Rev. Jimmy Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riverview Baptist Church Saturday evening from 6-9 PM.
