WILLIAMS, Harry David

Harry David Williams, 92, of Chestnut Street in Pearisburg, departed this life to be with his Savior Friday, November 20, 2015 at his home in the loving care of his family and hospice. Harry was born at Kerns on Big Stoney Creek, June 28, 1923, a son of the late John C. and Grace Snider Williams. He was a devout Christian very active in his work in the Holiness movement at The Goldbond Gospel Tabernacle and later at Shaver Memorial Church in Pearisburg. Harry was retired from National Gypsum Goldbond Plant where he served for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and seventeen siblings. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted and beloved wife of seventy-years Edith Shaver Williams; his sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy D. and Sandra of Christiansburg, Bobby D. and Nancy Williams of Narrows, Jerry W. Williams of Culpepper, and Mickey D. and Marcina Williams of Narrows; his nine grandchildren; his eleven great-grandchildren; and his sister Helen Williams Spiker of Missouri. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 1:00 pm in Shaver Memorial Church, Pearisburg with the Rev. David Cope officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 11 am until 1 pm before the services. While flowers are appreciated the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to Shaver Memorial Church, 1007 Curve Road, Pearisburg, VA 24134. The family would like to send a special “Thank You” to Gale and Ann Pennington for being so faithful to pick-up Harry and Edith and take them to church and to all the hospice workers.
