RICH CREEK, VA – Violet Belle Miller Raines, 85 of Rich Creek, VA passed away, Monday, November 9, 2015 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke, VA. Born March 15, 1930 at Willowton, WV she was the daughter of the late Arthur Emmons and Bessie Clark Thornton Miller. Violet had worked at the sewing factory in Narrows, VA and as a Custodian for the Town of Rich Creek, VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Roscoe Raines, twin stillborn daughters, four brothers, Junior, Raynard, Ed and Marion Miller, three sisters, Eva Crawford, Mary Comer and Donnie Bailey. Survivors include her three daughters, Nancy Lane and husband Robert of Shawsville, VA, Debbie Hicks and husband Gerry of Pembroke, VA and Norma Brown and husband Larry of Pulaski, VA, one sister, Hazel Thompson of Rich Creek, VA, twelve grandchildren, Jenny Duncan and husband Chris, Kitty Felty and husband Darin, Jeff Lane and wife Sonja, David Lane and wife Deanne, Jimmy Lane and wife Penny, Steven Lane, Eddie Lane and wife Cathy, Scotty Broyles and wife Sharon, Kimberly Sarver and husband Cliff, Melissa Eagle and husband Adam, Roscoe and Robert Brown, twenty four great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel, Peterstown, WV with Pastor Jerry Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the funeral home.
